Count contents before choosing a box
List the units inside one set and the total number of sets separately. A set containing two pens and one notebook needs a different layout from one containing a single pen, even when both are called stationery kits. Confirm the actual product or retail-pack dimensions relevant to packing. Add the room needed for protection and access to the items. Do not choose a box solely from a photograph or its outer dimensions.
Keep fit and price status explicit
The studio can work with approved box sizes and known pricing, but missing product dimensions leave fit pending. An appealing concept image does not resolve that missing information. Similarly, an unpriced insert or custom box remains a pending cost rather than a free component. Review the proposed arrangement before choosing it, and make the selected packaging an explicit part of the presentation. A packaging preview alone should not be confused with an approved project change.
A hypothetical bottle and notebook set
Consider 120 sets, each containing one bottle, one notebook and one pen. The notebook dimensions are known, but the bottle height is not. You can still compare the contents and known estimates, while marking box fit as pending. Obtain the bottle measurement, then check orientation, clearance and protection before approving the layout. If a larger box is required, revisit the packing and delivery assumptions. A small change in one product can affect the complete package.
Rehearse the unboxing and packing
Once dimensions and a candidate layout are available, test the order in which someone will see and remove the contents. A product that fits mathematically may still be difficult to lift from its insert. Check whether the lid can close without pressing on a raised part and whether instructions remain accessible. Consider how the packing team will assemble the set repeatedly, not only how one carefully arranged sample looks. Record any spacers or protective pieces so the formal scope includes the materials needed for the approved arrangement.
Examples from the Brandkom catalogue
- CHIPPEWA notebook, pen and key ring set (MO2633) Use the supplied three-piece set as a reference when deciding which items should be visible the moment a client opens the box.
- OREGON pen with its own case (IT3177) If its aluminium case will stay inside your custom box, use the case’s outside measurements when planning the insert.
Before you move forward
- Record units per set and number of sets.
- Confirm the dimensions used for packing.
- Check internal space, protection and removal.
- Keep fit and unpriced packaging visible in the presentation.
Common questions
Does a realistic mockup prove the products fit?
No. Verify actual dimensions, the usable internal space and protective materials. Keep fit pending when those inputs are missing.
Can the proposal continue before packaging is priced?
Yes. Show the known product estimate and the pending packaging clearly. Do not describe the known subtotal as the final complete-set total.
